Encoding UTF-8 in Excel
The import.io CSV file encodes special characters that are extracted in UTF-8. When opening a CSV in many versions of Excel, these characters are not encoded by default. Here is a quick guide on how to get around the character encoding.
- Open a new Workbook
- Go to the "Data" tab
- Click "From Text"
- Select the .CSV file that you want to open and hit "Get Data"
- On the first pop-up window, click "file origin" and select Unicode (UTF-8) and hit next.
- On the next page delimit by "Comma".
- Then "Finish"
- Choose what cell you want the data to start in and voila!
